Alfred Rushford Greason was an American film critic and author. He was a staff writer for the New York Times from 1945 to 1965, and wrote for the New Yorker from 1965 to 1975. He was also a professor of film at New York University from 1965 to 1975. He wrote several books on film, including The Film Critic’s Handbook and The Art of the Film. He was known for his insightful and often humorous reviews, and was a major influence on the development of film criticism in the United States.
