    Robert Ryan (1909-1973) was an American actor best known for his roles in film noir and westerns. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Dirty Dozen (1967). He also starred in films such as Crossfire (1947), The Set-Up (1949), The Wild Bunch (1969), and The Iceman Cometh (1973). Ryan was known for his intense performances and his ability to convey a wide range of emotions. He was also a successful stage actor, appearing in productions such as The Iceman Cometh and The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial.
