Pierre Berge (1930-2017) was a French businessman, philanthropist, and art collector. He was best known as the longtime business partner of Yves Saint Laurent, with whom he co-founded the Yves Saint Laurent fashion house in 1961. Berge was also a major patron of the arts, donating millions of euros to various cultural institutions and causes. He was also a vocal advocate for LGBT rights and same-sex marriage.
