Link Wray (1929-2005) was an American rock and roll guitarist, songwriter, and vocalist who became popular in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He is best known for his instrumental hit “Rumble,” which was the first instrumental rock and roll song to be banned from radio for its suggestive lyrics. He was also a pioneer of the power chord and heavily distorted guitar sound. He influenced many of the greats, including The Who, The Kinks, and Jimi Hendrix.
