    Bio:

    Joseph N. Welch was an American lawyer who served as the chief counsel for the United States Army during the Army-McCarthy hearings of 1954. He is best remembered for his famous rebuke of Senator Joseph McCarthy during the hearings, which is widely credited with helping to bring an end to McCarthy’s political career. Welch was a highly respected lawyer and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1960.
