Jacques Mathou was a French actor, director, and screenwriter. He was born in Paris in 1925 and began his career in the theater in the 1950s. He was best known for his roles in films such as The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie (1972), The Return of Martin Guerre (1982), and The Hairdresser’s Husband (1990). He also directed several films, including The Little Thief (1988) and The Grand Highway (1995). He died in Paris in 2002.
