Duane Jones was an American actor best known for his role as Ben in the 1968 horror classic Night of the Living Dead. He was born in 1936 in New Jersey and attended Rutgers University, where he studied drama. He went on to have a successful career in theater, appearing in numerous Broadway and Off-Broadway productions. He also appeared in several films, including The Incident, The Cotton Club, and The Learning Tree. Jones was a pioneer in the industry, being one of the first African-American actors to star in a major Hollywood production. He passed away in 1988 at the age of 52.
