Annie Ross is an American jazz singer and actress. She is best known for her work in the 1950s with the vocal trio Lambert, Hendricks & Ross, which popularized vocalese, a style of singing in which lyrics are added to existing instrumental songs. She has also had a successful solo career, releasing several albums and appearing in films such as The Out-of-Towners and The First Nudie Musical. Ross has been nominated for two Grammy Awards and has won a Tony Award for her performance in the Broadway musical Two Gentlemen of Verona.
