Dr. Seuss, also known as Theodor Seuss Geisel, was an American writer and cartoonist who is best known for his children’s books. He was born on March 2, 1904, in Springfield, Massachusetts, and died on September 24, 1991, in La Jolla, California. Dr. Seuss wrote and illustrated more than 60 books during his career, including classics such as “The Cat in the Hat,” “Green Eggs and Ham,” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” His books have been translated into more than 20 languages and have sold over 600 million copies worldwide. Dr. Seuss was also a political cartoonist and worked for the U.S. government during World War II, creating propaganda films and posters. He received numerous awards for his work, including two Academy Awards, two Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award, and a Pulitzer Prize.
