Arthur C. Clarke (1917-2008) was a British science fiction writer, inventor, and futurist. He is best known for his novel “2001: A Space Odyssey” and his collaboration with filmmaker Stanley Kubrick on the film adaptation. Clarke was also a prolific writer of short stories and essays on science and technology. He was a member of the British Interplanetary Society and a proponent of space exploration and the search for extraterrestrial life. Clarke was knighted in 1998 for his contributions to literature and science.
