Full Time is a must-see for fans of thrillers and those who appreciate a well-crafted film that tackles important societal issues with wit and creativity.
Full Time is the kind of movie that will make you want to quit your job and live off the grid. Laure Calamy’s performance is so intense, you’ll feel like you’re right there with her, struggling to make ends meet. The camera work and score add to the anxiety-inducing experience, but it’s worth it for the climactic sigh of relief at the end. Just make sure you have a stress ball handy.

Plot
Julie can’t catch a break. For a single mother raising two children in the suburbs of Paris, but working in the city, the commuter train is a lifeline and it’s suddenly been severed during the latest transit strike. Without the train, Julie can’t get to her job as the head maid at a five-star hotel, or to the interview for a better job she has lined up. Out of desperation, Julie turns to neighbors and her own gutsy resourcefulness to get to work and barely makes it back in time to pick up her kids before bedtime. Worse yet: it’s only Monday. Julie is at her breaking point and soon finds herself bending the rules to stay afloat in a ruthless society as her responsibilities pile up.

Air (2023)
RT Audience Score: 98%
Awards & Nominations: NA
Air, the latest film from director Ben Affleck, has been met with mixed reviews from critics. While some praise the exceptional script and cast, others find the film to be lacking in meaningful critique of society. However, one thing that cannot be denied is the effortlessly entertaining nature of the film. It’s a ground level, perfectly paced, and quietly inspirational movie that will knock you on your ass by the end. Matt Damon and Viola Davis deliver Oscar caliber work, and Affleck further cements himself as one of our greatest directors. A shoe may just be a shoe until someone steps into it, but Air steps up to the challenge and delivers a Triple Double of a film.
“Air” is like a slam dunk that hits the rim and bounces out. While it has its moments of charm and inspiration, it ultimately falls short of being a truly great sports movie. The cast, led by Matt Damon and Viola Davis, deliver solid performances, but the film’s attempts at social commentary feel forced and disingenuous. Still, if you’re a fan of underdog stories and ’90s nostalgia, “Air” might just be worth a watch. Just don’t expect it to be a game-changer.

RT Audience Score: 94%
Awards & Nominations: NA
Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret has finally made its way to the big screen, and it’s a delightful and heartwarming adaptation of Judy Blume’s iconic novel. The film captures the essence of the 70s with its Polaroid-style haze and nostalgic tone, transporting viewers to a simpler time. The performances are precise and careful, with Rachel McAdams delivering a standout performance as Margaret’s mother. While some critics may find the film to be a bland fantasy, it strikes a universal chord and remains a radical act of kindness, tackling timely issues such as reproductive health and sex education. Overall, this charming and atmospheric movie is an utter delight and a minor miracle in its faithful adaptation of such an interior life onto the screen.
Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret is like a warm hug from your childhood best friend. The movie perfectly captures the essence of Judy Blume’s iconic novel, with a Seventies vibe that will make you want to break out your bell-bottoms and platform shoes. The performances are spot-on, especially Rachel McAdams as Margaret’s mother, who delivers a heart-wrenching monologue that will leave you reaching for the tissues. And while the film deals with serious topics like reproductive health and sex education, it never loses its sense of humor or its ability to transport you back to a time when the biggest worry in your life was getting your first bra. Overall, this movie is an utter delight and a must-see for anyone who grew up reading Judy Blume.

Moveable Fest…
Plot
The passing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 represented not the culmination of the Civil Rights Movement, but the beginning of a new chapter. Nowhere was this next battle better epitomized than in Lowndes County, Alabama, a rural, impoverished county with a history of racist terrorism. In a county that was 80 percent Black but had zero Black voters, laws were just paper without power. Through first person accounts and archival footage, the film tells the story of the local movement and young Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) organizers who fought not just for voting rights, but for Black Power in Lowndes County. Inspired by the writings of Vann R. Newkirk II.

Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon A Time (2022)
RT Audience Score:
Awards & Nominations: NA
Evangelion:3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time is a cinematic masterpiece that delivers a satisfying conclusion to the beloved franchise. Anno Hideaki’s vision is fully realized in this film, which seamlessly blends the nihilistic tone of The End of Evangelion with the more hopeful terms of the anime’s original intended finale. The intercutting of past and present scenes is inventive and nostalgic, reminding us of everything that makes Evangelion not just psychologically complex, but balls-to-the-wall fun. The film is as epic as it is intimate, and Shinji’s journey is both heartbreaking and cathartic. Thrice Upon a Time is a fan service that works wonderfully, bringing back old acquaintances to contribute to the psychology of our troubled protagonist. The final half-hour sets itself free, abandoning the constraints of plot and delivering a free-associative symphony of images, words, and raw emotion. As Anno’s last word on the franchise, this film might just be a perfect ending.
Thrice Upon a Time” is the perfect ending to the Evangelion franchise, according to critics. It’s a nostalgic reminder of everything that makes Evangelion so great, with a perfect blend of nihilistic tones and hopeful endings. Fans will find catharsis in this conclusion, and it’s as epic as it is intimate. Anno Hideaki did a fantastic job of closing the can of worms he opened, and the final half-hour of the film is a free-associative symphony of images, words, and raw emotion. It’s not perfect, but it’s the most conclusive chapter in the Evangelion story yet, and that counts for an awful lot. Plus, Shinji gets in that robot one more time!

Amigo, the Spanish thriller that has finally made its way to North America, is a masterclass in restrained suspense. Director Óscar Martín expertly weaves a tale of a paralysed man and his best friend and carer, whose relationship slowly dissolves into a Hitchcockian nightmare. The chemistry between the two leads, Pareja and Botet, is palpable and adds depth and intensity to their characters. Martín’s direction is deliberate and methodical, leaving breadcrumbs for the audience to follow but never revealing his hand too soon. The result is a film that is both bold and ambitious, yet disturbing and fascinating. Amigo is a must-see for fans of slow-burn thrillers and those who appreciate the art of suspense.
