Critics Consensus

Make Up gets under the skin during its eerily unsettling descent into jealousy and paranoia — and leaves the viewer wanting more from writer-director Claire Oakley

Audience Consensus

Make Up is like a rollercoaster ride of emotions, but instead of loops and drops, it’s all about the terror and confusion of discovering your identity. Claire Oakley’s debut feature is a coming-of-age drama that often feels like a horror film, and it’s a wild ride from start to finish. Molly Windsor is a force to be reckoned with as she pendulums between jealousy and curiosity, and the chemistry between the leads is palpable. It’s a masterful, unsettling, and beautifully constructed gem that will leave you breathless.

The filmmakers manage to capture both sides of the story, from the factory floor to the CEO’s office, without taking a political stance. It’s a must-see for anyone interested in the future of the auto industry and international relations. Plus, it’s a great excuse to eat popcorn and feel smart at the same time.

Critics Consensus

On Her Shoulders traces one woman’s incredible journey to offer an inside look at modern political advocacy – and a challenge to viewers yearning to effect their own change.

Audience Consensus

On Her Shoulders” is a documentary that will make you cry, but in a good way. Director Alexandria Bombach captures the remarkable story of human rights activist Nadia Murad, who won the Nobel Peace Prize. The film shows the struggles and loneliness that Nadia faces, but also her strength and resilience. While some critics found the film lacking, I found it to be a powerful and emotional portrait of a truly inspiring woman. It’s a must-watch for anyone who wants to be inspired to make a difference in the world.

Audience Consensus

The Cakemaker” is a movie that will make you want to eat cake and cry at the same time. The performances are so natural that you’ll feel like you’re watching real people going through real emotions. The love story is heart-wrenching, but the film never feels melodramatic. It’s a slow burn, but it’s worth it for the beautiful portrait of love in all its forms. Plus, who doesn’t love a good cake?

Critics Consensus

Shirkers uses one woman’s interrogation of a pivotal personal disappointment to offer affecting observations on creativity, lost opportunity, and coming to terms with the past.

Audience Consensus

Shirkers is like a time capsule of indie filmmaking in the 90s, but with a twist of mystery and intrigue. It’s a coming-of-age story, a love letter to cinema, and a true crime documentary all rolled into one. Sandi Tan’s narration is witty and self-aware, making you feel like you’re hanging out with a cool friend who’s telling you a wild story. And the fact that it’s all based on true events just adds to the fascination. If you’re a fan of quirky, offbeat films, Shirkers is a must-watch.
