Make Up (2020)
RT Audience Score:
Awards & Nominations: NA
Make Up gets under the skin during its eerily unsettling descent into jealousy and paranoia — and leaves the viewer wanting more from writer-director Claire Oakley
Make Up is like a rollercoaster ride of emotions, but instead of loops and drops, it’s all about the terror and confusion of discovering your identity. Claire Oakley’s debut feature is a coming-of-age drama that often feels like a horror film, and it’s a wild ride from start to finish. Molly Windsor is a force to be reckoned with as she pendulums between jealousy and curiosity, and the chemistry between the leads is palpable. It’s a masterful, unsettling, and beautifully constructed gem that will leave you breathless.

On Her Shoulders traces one woman’s incredible journey to offer an inside look at modern political advocacy – and a challenge to viewers yearning to effect their own change.
On Her Shoulders” is a documentary that will make you cry, but in a good way. Director Alexandria Bombach captures the remarkable story of human rights activist Nadia Murad, who won the Nobel Peace Prize. The film shows the struggles and loneliness that Nadia faces, but also her strength and resilience. While some critics found the film lacking, I found it to be a powerful and emotional portrait of a truly inspiring woman. It’s a must-watch for anyone who wants to be inspired to make a difference in the world.

A fine addition to the Pixar legacy… a very sweet film about family, very thoughtfully put together. It has that unmistakable mixture of comedy and sentiment that you associate with a Pixar movie. Great fun.

Several times I found myself sobbing without knowing exactly why only to realize why the scene had hit me so hard a few minutes later.

Coco is a film that reminds us of the effect and importance of mise-en-scène, even when it has been assembled by animators and computers.

The film falls in line with some of Pixars best films and is an absolute must watch for any fan of film especially the Latino community. Coco gives the community more reason to be proud to be Latino.
