Chicago 10 (2008)
RT Audience Score: 77%
Awards & Nominations: 20 wins & 46 nominations
Brett Morgan’s half-animated, half-documentary film is an arresting, sometimes visionary portrait of the historic and chaotic trial
Chicago 10 is like a history lesson, but with a cool and edgy twist. It’s like the teacher who shows up in a leather jacket and sunglasses, making you actually interested in what they have to say. The documentary captures the spirit of the times without getting lost in the chaos, and the use of real footage makes it all the more compelling. It’s definitely worth a watch, even if you’re not usually into history stuff. Plus, who doesn’t love a good courtroom drama?

Snabba Cash (Easy Money) cuts a cube of Nordic noir whose taut storytelling packs an extra dose of hard-hitting heft
Easy Money” is a thrilling heist movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat. While some critics found the plot to be a bit muddled and overlong, I found it to be a fun and exciting ride. The multicultural cast adds a unique flavor to the film, and the tense sequences will have you holding your breath. Plus, the original title “Snabba Cash” is way cooler than the English one. Overall, “Easy Money” is a solid thriller that’s definitely worth a watch.

Smart, tightly wound, and solidly acted, Margin Call turns the convoluted financial meltdown of ’08 into gripping, thought-provoking drama
Margin Call may not be the most exciting movie out there, but it definitely hits close to home for anyone who’s ever worked in an office. The characters are all too familiar, from the cutthroat bosses to the overworked underlings. And let’s not forget Kevin Spacey, who steals the show as a corporate dirtbag with surprising depth. Sure, it’s a bit talky, but the dialogue is so good you won’t even notice. All in all, Margin Call is a smart and well-told story about the dark side of the business world.

It struggles with the balance between fact-based biopic and taut political thriller, but Fair Game brims with righteous anger — and benefits from superb performances by Naomi Watts and Sean Penn
Fair Game is like a game of telephone – the message gets lost somewhere along the way. While the performances by Naomi Watts and Sean Penn are solid, the scattered storyline and lack of clear direction make it hard to fully connect with the film. It’s not a terrible movie, but it’s not a home run either. Maybe it’s more like a bunt – it gets the job done, but it’s not exactly exciting.

Easy A is like a breath of fresh air in the teen comedy genre. It’s not going to be a classic like some of the greats, but it’s still a fun and sassy movie that will make you laugh. Emma Stone shines in her role and it’s easy to see why this could have been a star-making performance for her. The script is smart and full of witty dialogue that will have you quoting it for days. Get Low” is a movie that’s as sweet as a Georgia peach pie, but won’t give you a sugar coma. With a cast that includes Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek, and Bill Murray, you know you’re in for a treat. Sure, it may be a bit slow at times, but it’s worth it to see Duvall’s irascible character come to life. And if you’re a fan of Southern charm and kitsch, you’ll love this movie like a good ol’ glass of sweet tea on a hot summer day. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. Y’all won’t regret it.

Get Low is a handmade kind of film. Its ambitions are modest, but fully attained. I rarely use the words ”go see it”, but I hope a lot of people do.

Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek and Bill Murray lend their mega-watt talents to a undemanding movie. Beautifully shot but let down by an underwhelming final act.

Plot
Felix Bush (Robert Duvall) is a hermit who has no regard for anybody in the town or anyone who wants to get to know him. But one day, after a fellow old hermit has died and he hears people in the town telling stories about him, he decides that he needs to get these stories out in the public. He recruits Frank (Bill Murray), the local funeral home director, to host his own funeral. This way he can hear what everyone is saying about him, and get the truth to his past out in the open. But will he be able to get anybody to come? And will he be able to reveal his secrets?
