Charlie’s Angels (2000)
RT Audience Score: 45%
Awards & Nominations: 1 win & 9 nominations
Mixing tongue-in-cheek cheesecake with glossy action set pieces, Charlie’s Angels is slick and resonably fun despite its lack of originality
Charlie’s Angels is the perfect movie to watch when you want to turn off your brain and just enjoy some mindless action. Sure, the plot might be a bit silly and the dialogue might not be the most clever, but who cares when you have three badass women kicking butt and taking names? Plus, the outfits are to die for. It’s like a fashion show mixed with a spy movie. So grab some popcorn, sit back, and let Charlie’s Angels take you on a wild ride.

Hannah Gadsby: Nanette (2018)
RT Audience Score: 26%
Awards & Nominations: NA
Hannah Gadsby’s Nanette is a masterful work of art that transcends the boundaries of traditional stand-up comedy. Gadsby’s ability to weave her own personal pain into a larger societal critique is nothing short of genius. Her sharp wit and laser-like focus on misogyny, homophobia, and the tired tropes of comedy itself make for a thought-provoking and uncomfortable viewing experience. Nanette is not just a comedy special, it’s a call to action for audiences to wake up and confront the uncomfortable truths of our world. Gadsby’s ability to turn her pain into a powerful message is a testament to her strength and resilience. Nanette is a must-watch for anyone who wants to be challenged, inspired, and moved.
Hannah Gadsby’s Nanette is like a rollercoaster ride of emotions, but instead of screaming in terror, you’re screaming in agreement with everything she says. She takes the tired old tropes of comedy and flips them on their head, leaving you feeling uncomfortable but also enlightened. Gadsby’s ability to turn her pain into humor is a true testament to her strength and resilience. Plus, her clapbacks against problematic men like Louis C.K. are pure gold. Nanette is not just a comedy special, it’s a work of art.

While Dinosaur’s plot is generic and dull, its stunning computer animation and detailed backgrounds are enough to make it worth a look
Dinosaur is a movie that’s visually stunning, but it’s not without its flaws. Some critics say it’s too dark and scary in places, while others think the storytelling is lacking. One critic even called it “the dumber version of The Land Before Time.” But hey, at least there are no stupid songs, right? Overall, it’s a movie that’s worth watching for the CGI alone, but don’t expect too much from the plot. And if you’re a parent, be prepared for talking dinosaurs and bring your earplugs!

Plot
During an attack on a pack of Iguanodon, an egg is separated and ends up with the possession of a group of lemurs. The lemurs care for this egg and the young creature born from it, which they call Aladar (D.B. Sweeney). When meteorites hit Earth, Aladar and his family must leave their homeland. Away from home and as close to danger as they have ever been, they meet up with a huge group of dinosaurs, led by Kron (Samuel E. Wright) and Bruton (Peter Siragusa). All together they are trying to reach the nesting grounds, but it’s not going to be easy.

A slick little thriller that relies a bit too much on surprise events to generate suspense
A Perfect Murder is the kind of movie that will have you on the edge of your seat, but not because it’s particularly suspenseful. No, it’s because you’ll be trying to figure out how Michael Douglas managed to keep his hair so perfectly coiffed throughout the entire film. Seriously, it’s impressive. But in all seriousness, the movie is a fun ride with some great performances, even if the plot is a bit convoluted. If you’re looking for a good popcorn flick, this one is definitely worth a watch.

RT Audience Score: 53%

A competent, if sometimes by-the-numbers entry to the 007 franchise, Tomorrow Never Dies may not boast the most original plot but its action sequences are genuinely thrilling
Tomorrow Never Dies may not be the best Bond movie out there, but it’s still a fun ride. The action sequences are thrilling and Michelle Yeoh proves to be a worthy counterpart to Pierce Brosnan’s Bond. Plus, David Arnold’s score adds an extra layer of excitement to the film. Sure, the plot may be forgettable and the villain may be plain, but sometimes you just want to sit back, relax, and watch Bond save the world from brand-name unawareness.

Absolute Power collapses under its preposterous plotting despite an all-star cast and Clint Eastwood’s deft direction

Unlike famous bumbling sleuths such as Inspector Clouseau and Lt. Frank Drebin, there’s no consistency to the “Ace” character, and the whole movie shifts in tone from social satire to sophomoric pranks and traditional copshow plotting.

Your reaction to this fast and furious farce will largely depend on whether you find Carrey’s distinctive style of extremely physical comedy — often compared to that of Jerry Lewis — stupidly hilarious or downright annoying.

Put a leash on Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and call it a dog. This mangy comedy showcase for funnyman Jim Carrey trots through virtually every lowbrow laugh-getter imaginable, short of hiking its leg over a fire hydrant.

Plot
To be a Pet Detective, you have to understand both the criminals and animals. Ace Ventura goes even further… He behaves like a criminal animal. When a football team’s mascot (a dolphin) is stolen just before the Superbowl, Ace Ventura is put on the case. Now, who would want to steal a dolphin, and why?

Star Trek Generations (1994)
RT Audience Score: 57%
Awards & Nominations: NA
Generations stands as a mediocre changing of the guard for crews of the Enterprise, with a dull plot that sometimes seems like an expanded episode of the television series
Star Trek Generations” is like a pizza with all the toppings you love, but the crust is a bit soggy. It’s got William Shatner’s iconic performance, some cool sci-fi sequences, and Patrick Stewart’s commanding presence, but it falls short in some areas. The plot is well-plotted, but not mind-blowing, and the Kirk-Picard team-up is over before you know it. It’s still a fun ride for Trekkies, but it won’t convert any non-believers. Overall, it’s a decent addition to the franchise, but not the best slice of the pie.

Three things make the film worthwhile: [William] Shatner’s performance; the sequence involving Data getting his “emotion chip” implant; and John Alonzo’s crystalline cinematography, which makes Generations the most beautiful Trek ever.

There are lots of colored lights, and it is always fun to share the Trekkies’ enthusiasm for characters who are so well ingrained in pop culture. Star Trek: Generations, though, speaks clearest to the already converted.
