Critics Consensus

Mixing tongue-in-cheek cheesecake with glossy action set pieces, Charlie’s Angels is slick and resonably fun despite its lack of originality

Audience Consensus

Charlie’s Angels is the perfect movie to watch when you want to turn off your brain and just enjoy some mindless action. Sure, the plot might be a bit silly and the dialogue might not be the most clever, but who cares when you have three badass women kicking butt and taking names? Plus, the outfits are to die for. It’s like a fashion show mixed with a spy movie. So grab some popcorn, sit back, and let Charlie’s Angels take you on a wild ride.

Critics Consensus

Hannah Gadsby’s Nanette is a masterful work of art that transcends the boundaries of traditional stand-up comedy. Gadsby’s ability to weave her own personal pain into a larger societal critique is nothing short of genius. Her sharp wit and laser-like focus on misogyny, homophobia, and the tired tropes of comedy itself make for a thought-provoking and uncomfortable viewing experience. Nanette is not just a comedy special, it’s a call to action for audiences to wake up and confront the uncomfortable truths of our world. Gadsby’s ability to turn her pain into a powerful message is a testament to her strength and resilience. Nanette is a must-watch for anyone who wants to be challenged, inspired, and moved.

Audience Consensus

Hannah Gadsby’s Nanette is like a rollercoaster ride of emotions, but instead of screaming in terror, you’re screaming in agreement with everything she says. She takes the tired old tropes of comedy and flips them on their head, leaving you feeling uncomfortable but also enlightened. Gadsby’s ability to turn her pain into humor is a true testament to her strength and resilience. Plus, her clapbacks against problematic men like Louis C.K. are pure gold. Nanette is not just a comedy special, it’s a work of art.

Audience Consensus

Dinosaur is a movie that’s visually stunning, but it’s not without its flaws. Some critics say it’s too dark and scary in places, while others think the storytelling is lacking. One critic even called it “the dumber version of The Land Before Time.” But hey, at least there are no stupid songs, right? Overall, it’s a movie that’s worth watching for the CGI alone, but don’t expect too much from the plot. And if you’re a parent, be prepared for talking dinosaurs and bring your earplugs!

Storyline

During an attack on a pack of Iguanodon, an egg is separated and ends up with the possession of a group of lemurs. The lemurs care for this egg and the young creature born from it, which they call Aladar (D.B. Sweeney). When meteorites hit Earth, Aladar and his family must leave their homeland. Away from home and as close to danger as they have ever been, they meet up with a huge group of dinosaurs, led by Kron (Samuel E. Wright) and Bruton (Peter Siragusa). All together they are trying to reach the nesting grounds, but it’s not going to be easy.

The Rugrats Movie is a classic that will always hold a special place in my heart. As a kid, I loved watching the adventures of Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, and Angelica. Now, as an adult, I can appreciate the clever humor and heartwarming moments that make this movie a timeless family favorite. Sure, it may be a bit overstimulating and exhausting for some, but for me, it’s a diaper-load of fun!

Critics Consensus

A slick little thriller that relies a bit too much on surprise events to generate suspense

Audience Consensus

A Perfect Murder is the kind of movie that will have you on the edge of your seat, but not because it’s particularly suspenseful. No, it’s because you’ll be trying to figure out how Michael Douglas managed to keep his hair so perfectly coiffed throughout the entire film. Seriously, it’s impressive. But in all seriousness, the movie is a fun ride with some great performances, even if the plot is a bit convoluted. If you’re looking for a good popcorn flick, this one is definitely worth a watch.

Critics Consensus

A competent, if sometimes by-the-numbers entry to the 007 franchise, Tomorrow Never Dies may not boast the most original plot but its action sequences are genuinely thrilling

Audience Consensus

Tomorrow Never Dies may not be the best Bond movie out there, but it’s still a fun ride. The action sequences are thrilling and Michelle Yeoh proves to be a worthy counterpart to Pierce Brosnan’s Bond. Plus, David Arnold’s score adds an extra layer of excitement to the film. Sure, the plot may be forgettable and the villain may be plain, but sometimes you just want to sit back, relax, and watch Bond save the world from brand-name unawareness.

Absolute Power collapses under its preposterous plotting despite an all-star cast and Clint Eastwood’s deft direction

Audience Consensus

Absolute Power” is a movie that’s worth watching if you’re in the mood for a slow-burn thriller that’s more about the characters than the action. Clint Eastwood is great as always, and the rest of the cast is solid too. Sure, there are some plot holes and implausibilities, but what movie doesn’t have those? Overall, it’s a fun ride that will keep you guessing until the end. Plus, there are no nubile strippers, so that’s a plus in my book.

Eastwood the director sets a pace so poky that grannies with walkers seem fleet in comparison. Of course, this makes the many plot holes and implausibilities all the more evident…

Critics Consensus

Tim Burton’s alien invasion spoof faithfully recreates the wooden characters and schlocky story of cheesy ’50s sci-fi and Ed Wood movies — perhaps a little too faithfully for audiences

Audience Consensus

Mars Attacks! is a hilarious and wacky sci-fi comedy that will have you laughing from start to finish. With a star-studded cast and over-the-top special effects, this movie is a must-see for anyone who loves a good B-movie. The Martians are both funny and terrifying, and the satire is spot-on. Tim Burton has truly outdone himself with this one, and it’s no wonder it’s become a cult classic. So grab some popcorn, sit back, and enjoy the ride!

Jim Carrey’s twitchy antics and gross-out humor are on full, bombastic display in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, which is great news for fans of his particular brand of comedy but likely unsatisfying for anyone else

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is a wild ride that will have you laughing and cringing at the same time. Jim Carrey’s over-the-top performance as the titular character is both hilarious and exhausting, but you can’t help but be entertained by his antics. The movie may not be for everyone, but if you’re in the mood for some silly humor and animal shenanigans, give it a watch. Just be prepared for some truly terrible bathroom jokes.

Generations stands as a mediocre changing of the guard for crews of the Enterprise, with a dull plot that sometimes seems like an expanded episode of the television series

Audience Consensus

Star Trek Generations” is like a pizza with all the toppings you love, but the crust is a bit soggy. It’s got William Shatner’s iconic performance, some cool sci-fi sequences, and Patrick Stewart’s commanding presence, but it falls short in some areas. The plot is well-plotted, but not mind-blowing, and the Kirk-Picard team-up is over before you know it. It’s still a fun ride for Trekkies, but it won’t convert any non-believers. Overall, it’s a decent addition to the franchise, but not the best slice of the pie.

There are lots of colored lights, and it is always fun to share the Trekkies’ enthusiasm for characters who are so well ingrained in pop culture. Star Trek: Generations, though, speaks clearest to the already converted.

It’s not merely a couple of episodes strung together; it’s a surprisingly bland selection of possibly unused concepts from the show, fleshed out in an unspectacular fashion.

Though not the worst of all the Trek movies, the stupefying Generations is easily the most disappointing, with the much-hyped Kirk-Picard team-up lasting all of 20 minutes.

The best thing about “Star Trek Generations” is [Patrick] Stewart, as Captain Picard, and the way the movie allows this powerfully charismatic Englishman to swagger the center and take command of one of America’s most cherished fables.

Pretty much everything from the time Kirk leaves to the time he reappears is a distraction.

A perfect microcosm on the film’s problems can be found in Data’s emotion chip snafu, a B-plot that runs the course of the whole film.
