While Women Talking sometimes forsakes entertaining drama in favor of simply getting its points across, its message is valuable — and effectively delivered.
“Women Talking” is a movie that prioritizes delivering its message over entertaining drama, but the message is valuable and effectively conveyed.

Dr. Dolittle (1998)
RT Audience Score: 34%
Awards & Nominations: 3 wins & 6 nominations
Doctor Dolittle finds some mirth in the novelty of wisecracking critters, but this family feature’s treacly tone is made queasy by a reliance on scatological gags that undercut the intended warmth
Dr. Dolittle is a wild ride full of talking animals, scatological jokes, and Eddie Murphy doing his best to keep up with the chaos. While it may not be the most sophisticated family film out there, it’s definitely a fun one. The Henson people did an amazing job with the effects, and the one-liners are sure to make you chuckle. Just don’t expect anything too wholesome – this movie is all about the laughs.

Plot
Dr. John Dolittle the beloved doctor is back, but this time around he plays cupid to bumbling circus bear Archie as he’s so smitten by a Pacific Western bear female, Ava. Dr. Dolittle must help a group of forest creatures to save their forest. But with the aid of his mangy, madcap animal friends, Dr. Dolittle must teach Archie the ways of true romance in time to save his species and his home before their habit is gone. So John held a meeting for every animal in the forest to not give up without a fight no matter what kind of animal expression they have and everyone agrees to do it and save their home.

John Travolta plays an angel in Nora Ephron’s maudlin Michael, a grating comedy that doesn’t tap into the heavenly charms of her best work
If you’re looking for a movie that’s as sweet as a batch of freshly baked cookies, then Michael might be the one for you. Sure, some critics might call it an unfocused mess, but who needs focus when you’ve got John Travolta playing an angel with a love for cigarettes and fried food? It’s a bizarre plot, but it’s also weirdly charming. And let’s be real, who wouldn’t want to see Travolta bust a move in a dance number? So grab some popcorn and settle in for a folksy, earnest, and just plain weird ride.

Plot
Frank Quinlan and Huey Driscoll, two reporters from a Chicago-based tabloid, along with Dorothy Winters, an ‘angel expert’, are asked to travel to rural Iowa to investigate a claim from an old woman that she shares her house with a real, live archangel named Michael. Upon arrival, they see that her claims are true – but Michael is not what they expected: he smokes, drinks beer, has a very active libido and has a rather colourful vocabulary. In fact, they would never believe it were it not for the two feathery wings protruding from his back. Michael agrees to travel to Chicago with the threesome, but what they don’t realise is that the journey they are about to undertake will change their lives forever.

Rising Sun (1993)
RT Audience Score: 40%
Awards & Nominations: 1 win & 1 nomination
Rising Sun, a film adaptation of Michael Crichton’s novel, has been met with mixed reviews from critics. While some have praised the film’s tense moments and intriguing plot, others have criticized its lackluster execution and failure to do justice to the source material. Director Philip Kaufman, known for his idiosyncratic approach to genre films, seems to have played it too safe this time around, resulting in a movie that fails to rise above the level of a second-rate thriller. Despite the star power of Sean Connery and Wesley Snipes, Rising Sun ultimately falls short of its potential and leaves audiences feeling disappointed.
Rising Sun was a major disappointment for critics, but let’s be real, it’s still a fun movie to watch. Sure, it may not be the most intricate political thriller out there, but it’s got Sean Connery and Wesley Snipes teaming up to solve a murder mystery in a Japanese corporation. Plus, there’s some cool action scenes and a bit of culture shock thrown in. So, if you’re looking for a movie to watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon, give Rising Sun a chance. It may not be a masterpiece, but it’s still an entertaining ride.
