Dr. T and the Women (2000)
RT Audience Score: 20%
Awards & Nominations: 4 nominations
In terms of quality, Dr. T and the Women is one of Altman’s good-but-not-great films. In typical Altman style, it features some great ensemble acting, including a wonderful performance by Richard Gere
Dr. T & The Women is like a tornado that hits you with a hurricane speed of emotions and unexpected twists. It’s a vintage Altman movie that celebrates the variety and emotional fecundity of women, but don’t scratch the surface too much, or you might find something not so pretty. Richard Gere’s calm center performance is a perfect balance to the flabby farce of everyone else making it up as they go along. Just like the inexplicable tornado at the end that causes the film to derail, this movie blows your mind with its unexpectedly complex and tricky triple shock ending. Not for kids, but definitely for anyone who loves a richly enjoyable and fun ride.

Assassins (1995)
RT Audience Score: 45%
Awards & Nominations: NA
Assassins, a film that tries to be a high-tech action thriller, falls short of its goal. The action is lackluster, and the explosions and car chases are nothing to write home about. Director Richard Donner seems to be trying to create an art-house version of his Lethal Weapon series, but the result is a film with too much dead air. The performances of Sylvester Stallone and Antonio Banderas are uninspired, and the plot is implausible. While the film has a slick big-budget style, it ultimately fails to deliver the excitement and thrills that audiences expect from an action movie.
Assassins is like a bad blind date – you’re stuck with it for way too long, it’s awkward, and you can’t wait for it to be over. The action scenes are lackluster, the plot is thin, and the acting is forgettable. The only thing that might keep you awake is the occasional explosion, but even that gets old after a while. Save yourself the trouble and swipe left on this one.

Loud, excessively busy, and often boring, Batman Forever nonetheless has the charisma of Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones to offer mild relief
Batman Forever is like a neon explosion in your face, but in a good way. It’s not the best Batman movie out there, but it’s definitely a fun ride. Jim Carrey as the Riddler is a highlight, and the Batmobile is just plain cool. Sure, it’s a bit messy and over-the-top, but sometimes you just need some mindless entertainment. Plus, who doesn’t love a good dose of ’90s nostalgia?
