James V. Hart is an American screenwriter, producer, and director. He is best known for his work on the films Hook, Contact, and August Rush. He has also written for the television series Beauty and the Beast and the miniseries The Odyssey. Hart has been nominated for two Academy Awards and has won a Saturn Award for Best Writing for his work on Contact. He is currently working on a new project, The Last of Us, which is set to be released in 2021.
