Critics Consensus

Stuart Little 2 is a sweet, visually impressive sequel that provides wholesome entertainment for kids

Audience Consensus

Stuart Little 2 is the perfect movie to watch if you want to escape reality for a bit and hang out with a talking mouse. The puns and wisecracks from the Persian cat are hilarious, and Stuart himself is a sweet talker. Plus, who doesn’t love a movie with excellent voice talent? It’s a well-crafted, visually delightful family movie that successfully avoids most of the common family-movie mistakes. And let’s be real, Stuart in his little jeans and sweater is just too cute to resist. Overall, it’s a fluffy, mindless, but ultimately cute sequel that’s worth a watch.

Storyline

Stuart’s mother is being over-protective of him, especially when he narrowly escapes injury in a soccer game. His big brother George has also made a new friend, Will, so Stuart is feeing lonely. Stuart rescues a canary, Margalo, from a falcon; she moves in with the Littles. One day, Margalo is nowhere to be found, so Stuart and Snowbell set out across the city to find her while George covers for Stuart (the first time he’s had to lie).

STUART LITTLE 2

No doubt, it can be a perfect escapist fare if you’re riddled with self-doubts and is fairly delightful even though you know that the reality outside the 70-odd minutes is not so rosy.

The film is fairly formulaic, though some of its puns and wisecracks are hilarious, especially those delivered by the Littles’ lazy and cynical Persian cat.

It’s painful to admit it, but the tiny, perky FX mouse in jeans and sweater once again carries the summer’s most enjoyable kids’ movie.

Stuart Little 2 once again delights us with the further adventures of Stuart as he tries to be just a regular kid in a human world.

 Looking Closer
In an era where sequels to kids film often rank below most Saturday Morning Cartoons, it’s refreshing to see a movie that not only matches the quality of the first movie, but it some ways even exceeds it.
