Critics Consensus

The plot and basis for jokes are slight, but Saving Grace is indeed saved by some charming performances, most notably Brenda Blethyn’s

Audience Consensus

Saving Grace is a movie that’s as charming as Brenda Blethyn’s smile. Critics may say it’s shapeless and mediocre, but they’re just being grumpy. This movie has everything you need for a good time: a lovely Cornish setting, a hilarious plot, and a whole lot of weed. Yes, you read that right. Saving Grace is a stoner comedy that will make you laugh until you cry. It’s like Cheech and Chong meets Downton Abbey. So grab some popcorn, roll a joint (if that’s your thing), and get ready for a wild ride. Saving Grace is the feel-good movie of the year.

In trying too hard to convince us what good eggs his characters are, Cole creates a shapeless, dramatically unengaging movie.

Saving Grace has a lovely Cornish setting and Blethyn to recommend it, but mostly it’s a contact mediocre.

It’s funny and charming most of the time, thanks to Brenda Blethyn.

It has two great British landmarks: champion actress Brenda Blethyn and that wonderful rugged Cornwall coast. All that’s enough for a temporary high.

A pleasant little comedy with the soul of one of those old, much loved Ealing pictures of the forties and fifties but overlayed with a coating of Hollywood glitz.

Grossly overestimates the effects of Marijuana so that it can get the cheap laughs. But it is genuinely and consistently funny
