Critics Consensus

Magic Mike’s Last Dance is loose and limber enough to entertain, although it’s hard to escape the feeling that this franchise has lost a step or two along the way.

Audience Consensus

If it isn’t quite as much fun as the first two movies, Magic Mike’s Last Dance is still worth a handful of sweaty, crumpled dollar bills.

Storyline

“Magic” Mike Lane takes to the stage again after a lengthy hiatus, following a business deal that went bust, leaving him broke and taking bartender gigs in Florida. For what he hopes will be one last hurrah, Mike heads to London with a wealthy socialite who lures him with an offer he can’t refuse … and an agenda all her own. Once Mike discovers what she truly has in mind, will he —and the roster of hot new dancers he’ll have to whip into shape — be able to pull it off? Third installment in the Magic Mike franchise.

MAGIC MIKE’S LAST DANCE
 All Critics (198) | Top Critics (71) | Fresh (97) | Rotten (101)
There’s alchemy at work in Magic Mike’s Last Dance; it bares far less skin than its two predecessors, but this third movie in the Steven Soderbergh franchise is somehow its sexiest …

Tatum, whose stripper past first inspired the character, looks more comfortable than ever in a role that, like the film, is in equal parts funny, playful, sexy and sincere — despite being in the business of fantasy.

At a time when movies have become so sex-less, it really is such a joy to get turned on at the cinema!

There is more that confounds, befuddles and frustrates than enchants or titillates.

The often-euphoric Magic Mike trilogy ends on a muted note, de-emphasizing the ecstatic dancing to follow the titular former stripper as he ponders the next chapter of his life.

Magic Mike turned itself into an unlikely franchise dedicated to promoting women’s pleasure, but in the end, it overcomplicated its appeal…

This is a stripped down version of “Magic Mike” but it is stripped of talent and not of clothes.

The emperor has no clothes, and neither does the stripper…the joy of stripping and exploring sensuality is completely eradicated by a film that was groundbreaking in the early 2010s and too afraid of hyper-sensitive sexual taboos in 2023

Mike Lane goes out with a whimper and not a bang—no pun intended.

When there’s genuine heat to Magic Mike’s Last Dance, it sizzles from that choreography and that core duo. Everything else too often feels like foreplay at its most routine and half-hearted.

The premise is shaky, the acting is overwrought, the script is full of lines that make absolutely no sense, and yet: Magic Mike’s Last Dance is fun as hell, specifically because it’s bad.
