    Bio:

    David S. Ward is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. He was born on October 25, 1945, in Providence, Rhode Island. Ward is best known for writing and directing the sports comedy film “Major League” (1989), which became a box office hit and spawned two sequels. He also wrote and directed the films “The Sting II” (1983), “King Ralph” (1991), and “Down Periscope” (1996). Ward won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for “The Sting” (1973), which he co-wrote with director George Roy Hill. He has also written screenplays for other films, including “Sleepless in Seattle” (1993) and “Flyboys” (2006).
