Critics Consensus

Plan 75 is a cinematic masterpiece that delves into the complexities of a society that has lost its empathy and soul. Hayakawa Chie’s stinging precision in revealing the culture’s self-destructive tendencies is both poignant and thought-provoking. The film’s delicate whisper of a drama gradually accumulates into a palpable and lingering rage at how we have become experts at branding cruelty as compassion. The well-acted and structured journey towards oblivion retains a glimmer of hope thanks to the characters caught within. Plan 75 is a must-see for anyone who wants to understand the societal strains of an aging population and the importance of empathy in a dystopian world.

Audience Consensus

Plan 75 is a movie that will make you feel all the emotions. From creeping despair to lingering rage, this film has it all. But don’t worry, it’s not all doom and gloom. There’s a glimmer of hope thanks to the well-acted and structured characters caught within. Plus, the film is full of sharp little observations that tell us about the society and the experience of people living in it. So, grab some popcorn and get ready for a mildly engaging, understated, and poetic journey towards oblivion.

Critics Consensus

Director Dominik Moll’s “The Night of the 12th” is a masterful exploration of the gritty reality of crime-fighting, eschewing the flashy thrills of conventional police procedurals in favor of a grounded, deceptively plain approach that captures the grind of false leads, workplace fatigue, and the lack of closure that plagues real-life investigations. Moll’s singular texture keeps tricking the audience into thinking they’re watching a more conventional thriller, but the film’s grim authenticity and chilling suspense sequences make it clear that this is a work of art that transcends genre. With a beautiful score by Olivier Margueri and a convincing cast, “The Night of the 12th” is a spellbinding and engrossing psychological crime thriller that ranks among the best in the genre.

Audience Consensus

“The Night of the 12th” is a crime thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The film is not your typical police procedural, but rather a grounded and realistic portrayal of the investigation process. The cast delivers convincing performances, and the score adds an ominous tone to the film. Director Dominik Moll and screenwriter Gilles Marchand take a bold approach by centering the film around flawed, yet noble cop protagonists. Overall, “The Night of the 12th” is a spellbinding and engrossing film that delves into questions of violence, guilt, and the nature of evil. It’s a must-watch for fans of the genre!

Critics Consensus

“Of an Age” is a film that captures the essence of first love and the complexities that come with it. The Australian production is a warm and tender portrayal of two men from different backgrounds who find themselves drawn to each other. While the film lacks in character development, the chemistry between the two leads is infectious and captivating. Director Stolevski’s use of close-ups may be excessive, but it does not detract from the intimate and passionate nature of the story. “Of an Age” is a witty and winsome film that will leave an everlasting mark on your heart, much like the love stories it portrays.

Audience Consensus

“Of an Age” is a heartwarming and tender film that explores the complexities of first love and the impact it can have on our lives. The chemistry between Anton and Green is electric, and their performances are infectious. While the film may lack some of the character development that would make it truly devastating, it still manages to capture the beauty and horror of falling in love for the first time. It’s the perfect movie to watch with your partner or your hopelessly unrequited crush, and it will leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling that will last long after the credits roll.

Critics Consensus

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is a cacophonous and bombastic carnival that relies heavily on CGI and a crushing soundtrack to fake its ambitious scale. While the action sequences featuring dragon-based mayhem, cyclopes, and an army of formidable hell unicorns hopped up on candy are pacy and fun, the undercooked casserole of cliched narrative elements, underdeveloped characters, and juvenile humor make it a forgettable experience. However, Zachary Levi’s charmingly consistent performance as Billy and the diverse cast of women of every age, ethnicity, and skill make it an enjoyable slice of silliness. Overall, it’s a sequel that duplicates the original’s charm but fails to elevate the franchise to new heights.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods has critics divided, but one thing is for sure – it’s a fun and silly ride. Some say it’s too juvenile, while others praise its charm and humor. Personally, I loved seeing Zachary Levi tap into his inner child as Billy, and the diverse cast was a win for me. Sure, the CGI can get a bit overwhelming, but it’s all in good fun. If you’re looking for a lighthearted superhero flick, Shazam! Fury of the Gods is worth checking out. Just don’t take it too seriously, or you might end up like those critics who checked out.

Critics Consensus

Luther: The Fallen Sun is a film that has left critics divided, much like the titular character’s moral compass. While some praise Idris Elba’s performance and the continuation of Luther’s dark and gritty tone, others criticize the convoluted plot and lack of evolution from the TV series. However, one thing is certain: Andy Serkis’ hairpiece is a crime against humanity. All in all, Luther fans will find something to enjoy in this feature-length chapter, but newcomers may want to start with the original series to fully appreciate the character’s journey.

Audience Consensus

Luther: The Fallen Sun is like a rollercoaster ride that you can’t get off of, even if you wanted to. Idris Elba and Andy Serkis are a dynamic duo that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The plot may be a bit convoluted, but who cares when you have Luther kicking butt and taking names? This movie is not for the faint of heart, but if you’re a fan of the series, you won’t be disappointed. Just make sure to bring a barf bag for all the twists and turns.

Critics Consensus

The Man in the Basement is a thought-provoking and timely French thriller that delves into the dangerous territory of Holocaust denial and its insidious effects on the human psyche. With a gripping and suspenseful plot, the film expertly weaves together themes of domestic drama, political urgency, and ideological division, all while showcasing the talents of its exceptional cast. While some critics may find fault with the film’s pacing and lack of insight in its finale, it remains a smart and tense exploration of social issues that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats. Plus, any movie that gives us a chance to see François Cluzet play a hissable stinker is worth the price of admission.

Audience Consensus

The Man in the Basement” is a French thriller that will make you question everything you know about Holocaust denial and the power of persuasion. Critics are raving about the film’s intelligence, suspense, and timely social commentary. While some found the ending lacking, others praised the performances of the talented cast. Overall, this movie is a must-see for anyone who loves a good psychological thriller with a relevant message. Just don’t watch it alone in your basement, or you might start questioning your own beliefs.

Critics Consensus

Money Shot: The Pornhub Story is a documentary that delves into the controversial world of the adult entertainment industry, specifically focusing on the ethical and moral challenges that it faces today. Director Suzanne Hillinger handles the subject matter with nuance and care, offering an accurate and illuminating view of the industry’s offenses driven by capitalism while never losing sight of the workers whose safety and success should be the profession’s number one priority. The film also addresses the importance of monitoring the use of adult entertainment websites by kids and teens, making it a thought-provoking and timely piece. However, the biggest failure of the documentary is its lack of voices from Pornhub, big or small, which leaves the audience with unanswered questions. Overall, Money Shot is a powerful and well-made documentary that is unlikely to fade away as long as modern technology and prurient interests continue to exist.

Audience Consensus

Money Shot: The Pornhub Story is a documentary that takes a deep dive into the world of adult entertainment websites and the controversies surrounding them. While some critics praise the film for its thoughtful and nuanced approach, others criticize it for not including voices from Pornhub itself. Regardless of your opinion, one thing is clear: this film is not for the faint of heart. With titillation and radicalization at the forefront, Money Shot is sure to leave you feeling both informed and a little bit dirty.

Critics Consensus

Manuela Martelli’s “Chile ’76” is a tour de force of political commentary and psychological drama, with Aline Küppenheim delivering a stunning performance as the conflicted heroine. While some critics may find fault with the film’s subtlety, Martelli’s deliberate approach to storytelling allows for a nuanced exploration of the sociopolitical climate of 1970s Chile. The film’s attention to detail in recreating the era is remarkable, and Martelli’s skillful direction infuses even the most mundane interactions with a palpable sense of tension. “Chile ’76” is a must-see for fans of political thrillers and character studies alike.

Audience Consensus

“Chile ’76” is a gripping thriller that takes you on a journey through the sociopolitical ills of South America during one of its darkest periods. Aline Küppenheim delivers a powerful performance as the torn heroine, showcasing the difficulty of being heroic in such a tumultuous time. While some critics found the film to be too subtle, others praised its ability to merge the personal and political in a masterful way. Overall, “Chile ’76” is a well-observed and tense political thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end. Plus, who doesn’t love a good old-school thriller atmosphere?

Critics Consensus

Boston Strangler is a film that attempts to capture the essence of old-school journalism and the struggles of women in a male-dominated industry. While the performances by Keira Knightley and Carrie Coon are commendable, the film falls short in building suspense and momentum. The reliance on a brooding soundtrack and a shot-through-a-dirty-fishtank look ultimately detracts from the strong performances and accurate rendering of mid-century gender inequality. However, the film does push the audience to question the reliability of its narration, making it a worthwhile addition to the true crime genre. Overall, Boston Strangler is a decent effort, but it fails to reach the heights of other films in the genre such as Spotlight or Zodiac.

Audience Consensus

Boston Strangler is a movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat, but not because of the suspense. Rather, it’s because you’ll be constantly adjusting your glasses to see through the dirty fishtank look that the filmmakers seem to love so much. However, the performances by Keira Knightley and Carrie Coon are top-notch, and it’s worth watching just to see them kick butt in a male-dominated world. Plus, it’s always fun to question who the narration is coming from, right? Overall, it’s a decent addition to the true crime genre, but don’t expect it to be the next Spotlight or Zodiac.

Critics Consensus

Moving On, the latest film starring the dynamic duo of Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, may not be a cinematic masterpiece, but it certainly delivers on laughs and heart. The film explores the challenges of aging with humor and grace, and Fonda and Tomlin’s chemistry is as strong as ever. While the pacing may stumble at times, the film’s winning cast and poignant themes make it a worthwhile watch. Moving On proves that even as we age, there’s always room for growth, adventure, and a good laugh.

Audience Consensus

Moving On may not be the next Oscar winner, but it’s definitely worth a watch for the dynamic duo of Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. The film has its ups and downs, but the chemistry between the two leads is undeniable. It’s like watching your favorite aunt and grandma bicker and banter, but with a little more cursing. Plus, who doesn’t love a good revenge comedy? Moving On may not be groundbreaking, but it’s a fun and entertaining ride.

 Battle Royale With Cheese
