Critics Consensus

Fundamentally absurd yet as evocatively minimalist as its title, Fall is a sustained adrenaline rush for viewers willing to suspend disbelief.

Audience Consensus

As long as you don’t go in expecting anything realistic, Fall is a solidly suspenseful B-movie done right.

FALL

While the pace falters a little – there are only so many ways you can almost fall off a tower, after all – the tension is unrelenting.

A white-knuckle disaster in the sky, Fall does exactly and only what it says on the tin. Do look down!

Silly plot contrivances intrude and clutter up what should have been an 80-minute thrill ride.

Mann crafts this ride like a horror movie, with enough jump scares, gory sights and twists that make you howl while hanging on to its every vertigo-inducing frame.

I have no means for a vacation at the moment and nothing else left to give to this season, and Fall asks for so little that it feels like too much to demand something as basic as logic or characters in return.

Some movies need to be original to work. Fall isn’t one of those movies, and it isn’t trying to be. It’s more satisfying for trying to hit the familiar beats with just a hint of nerve.

With vertigo-inducing stunts and strong performances, “Fall” is a thriller for most of us but a horror movie for acrophobics.

A genuinely terrifying thriller that hits truly dizzying heights, thanks to skilled direction, superb special effects work and a dynamite double act from Currey and Gardner.

Some – or even most – scenes are certain to make you feel dizzy and a little sick to your stomach or give you vertigo, which in this case is a sign of Mann’s talent behind the camera.

Halfway between a disaster movie, survival horror, and even a thriller, the premise of Fall is so implausible that it is absolutely irresistible. [Full review in Spanish]

The soapy melodrama is a hoot, the implausible plot swerves an absolute riot… Mann makes the most of a $3m budget and though Fall is fundamentally bananas, it’s also incredibly effective. I can’t recall the last time a film made me sweat as much.
