Critics Consensus

Mixing tongue-in-cheek cheesecake with glossy action set pieces, Charlie’s Angels is slick and resonably fun despite its lack of originality

Audience Consensus

Charlie’s Angels is the perfect movie to watch when you want to turn off your brain and just enjoy some mindless action. Sure, the plot might be a bit silly and the dialogue might not be the most clever, but who cares when you have three badass women kicking butt and taking names? Plus, the outfits are to die for. It’s like a fashion show mixed with a spy movie. So grab some popcorn, sit back, and let Charlie’s Angels take you on a wild ride.

Though undeniably flawed, the movie…remains a surprisingly fun watch.

This is nothing but trailer moments. Ex-pop video director McG couldn’t organise a pillow fight in a bedding factory.

Charlie’s Angels is like a Hong Kong flick but without the bogus spirituality and excruciating schlock-pop ballads.

A speedy, ask-no-questions pop contrivance that, as long as it keeps sparkling and whirling, continually amuses.

The cast members seem to be having a high old time, and with sharper dialogue, an even higher time might have been had by all.

Low-concept, high-octane fun is the order of the day here, and the goods are delivered in full with a forceful frivolity that is irresistible in every sense of the word.

You may consider this the loosened collar or tightened noose on lightweight American action. But the film remains a kitschy, kick-butt confection that embraces the utter disposability of its severe necklines, sheer pantylines and silly plotlines.

Barrymore is the best of the three here but the group has great chemistry and they work well as a cohesive unit.

The film is the equivalent of the ‘dumb blonde’ of action movies. No plot? No problem. Smile pretty now.
