Munich can’t quite achieve its lofty goals, but this thrilling, politically even-handed look at the fallout from an intractable political conflict is still well worth watching
Munich is a movie that will make you feel like you’re on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Eric Bana’s performance is so good, it’s like he’s not even acting. Spielberg’s direction is top-notch, and the story is both thrilling and thought-provoking. It’s a movie that will make you question your beliefs and leave you with a lot to think about. Plus, it’s got enough action to keep you on the edge of your seat. Overall, Munich is a must-watch for anyone who loves a good political thriller.

Eric Bana gives a performance that deserves something more serious than an Oscar. It’s a sublimely convincing portrayal of a man who is travelling far from who he is in order to defend who he is.

Munich’s passion is clear, its intention good, the skill behind it immense; there is something brave about its decision to take politics into the multiplex.

It’s certainly the best mainstream thriller since The Insider, and an audacious political statement from a director who has everything to lose. Don’t miss it.

It strikes me as an honest, relatively complicated and humane effort-in many ways, quite remarkable-and one that provides little comfort for defenders of the status quo, in Israel or elsewhere.

When one takes into account what Steven Spielberg is looking to accomplish in the film, Munich is a a great piece of cinema.

A daft and directionless thriller from Steven Spielberg, cynically hijacking Israeli-Palestinian tensions to fuel the engine of an over-heated action vehicle.

Plot
Based on the international bestseller by Robert Harris. It is Autumn 1938 and Europe stands on the brink of war. Adolf Hitler is preparing to invade Czechoslovakia and Neville Chamberlain’s government desperately seeks a peaceful solution. With the pressure building, Hugh Legat, British civil servant, and Paul von Hartmann, German diplomat, travel to Munich for the emergency Conference. As negotiations begin, the two old friends find themselves at the center of a web of political subterfuge and very real danger.
