Otto Preminger was an Austrian-born American film director, producer, and actor. He is known for directing over 35 feature films in a five-decade career spanning from the 1940s to the 1980s. Preminger’s films were noted for their bold subject matter and non-traditional narrative techniques, and he is credited with breaking the Hollywood Production Code with his controversial films such as The Moon Is Blue (1953) and Anatomy of a Murder (1959). He was nominated for five Academy Awards and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Director for The Cardinal (1963).
