Emeric Pressburger (1902-1988) was a Hungarian-born British screenwriter, film director, and producer. He is best known for his collaborations with British film director Michael Powell, with whom he formed the production company The Archers. Together, they wrote and directed a number of influential films, including The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (1943), A Matter of Life and Death (1946), and Black Narcissus (1947). Pressburger was also known for his innovative use of color and his unique visual style. He was nominated for four Academy Awards and won two BAFTA Awards.
