Alex Kotlowitz is an award-winning journalist, author, and documentary filmmaker. He is best known for his work on the 1991 book There Are No Children Here, which chronicles the lives of two boys growing up in the Henry Horner Homes public housing project in Chicago. He has also written for The New York Times Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, and National Public Radio. He has produced and directed several documentaries, including The Interrupters, which follows a group of former gang members who work to stop violence in Chicago.
