    William Castle (1914-1977) was an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He was known for his work in the horror genre, particularly for his use of gimmicks to promote his films. Castle directed and produced films such as “House on Haunted Hill” (1959), “The Tingler” (1959), and “13 Ghosts” (1960). He was also a prolific television producer, creating shows such as “The Whistler” and “The Busy Mr. B.” Castle passed away in 1977 at the age of 63.
