    Ian McLellan Hunter was a British-American screenwriter and actor. He was born on August 8, 1915, in Cape Town, South Africa, and died on March 23, 1991, in London, England. Hunter wrote several successful films, including Roman Holiday (1953), which won him an Academy Award for Best Story. He also acted in a few films, including The Little Princess (1939) and The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938). Hunter was blacklisted during the McCarthy era for his alleged involvement with communist organizations.
