Hurricane Carter, also known as Rubin Carter, was a professional boxer and activist who was wrongfully convicted of murder in 1966. He spent nearly 20 years in prison before his conviction was overturned in 1985. After his release, he became an advocate for the wrongly convicted and worked to reform the criminal justice system. Carter passed away in 2014 at the age of 76.
