    David Rayfiel was an American screenwriter and novelist, born on August 8, 1923, in Brooklyn, New York. He is best known for his collaborations with director Sydney Pollack, including the films “Three Days of the Condor” and “The Firm.” Rayfiel also wrote several novels, including “The Man Who Tried to Save the World” and “The Edge of Night.” He passed away on June 22, 2011, in Santa Monica, California.
