Zhuangzhuang Tian is a Chinese film director known for his works in the Fifth Generation of Chinese cinema. He was born on October 23, 1952, in Beijing, China. Tian started his career as an assistant director to the renowned filmmaker Zhang Yimou. He made his directorial debut with the film “On the Hunting Ground” in 1984, which won the Best Director award at the Tokyo International Film Festival. Tian’s other notable works include “The Horse Thief,” “The Blue Kite,” and “Springtime in a Small Town.” He has won numerous awards for his films, including the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival.
