Zana Briski is a British documentary filmmaker and photographer. She is best known for her Academy Award-winning documentary film “Born into Brothels” (2004), which she co-directed with Ross Kauffman. The film follows the lives of children of prostitutes in the red-light district of Kolkata, India, and their journey to escape poverty through photography. Briski has also directed several other documentaries, including “The Making of a New Empire” (1991) and “The War on Kids” (2009).
