Tobe Hooper (1943-2017) was an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for directing the horror classic “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” (1974) and the supernatural thriller “Poltergeist” (1982). Hooper also directed several other horror films, including “Salem’s Lot” (1979), “The Funhouse” (1981), and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2” (1986). He continued to work in the horror genre throughout his career, directing films such as “The Mangler” (1995) and “Toolbox Murders” (2004). Hooper passed away in 2017 at the age of 74.
