    Robert Wise was an American film director, producer, and editor. He was born on September 10, 1914, in Winchester, Indiana, and died on September 14, 2005, in Los Angeles, California. Wise directed many classic films, including “The Day the Earth Stood Still,” “West Side Story,” and “The Sound of Music.” He won four Academy Awards throughout his career, including Best Director for “West Side Story” and “The Sound of Music.” Wise is considered one of the most influential filmmakers in Hollywood history.
