    Bio:

    Morris Engel (1918-2005) was an American photographer and filmmaker. He is best known for co-directing and co-writing the influential independent film “Little Fugitive” (1953), which is considered a landmark in American independent cinema. Engel’s other notable films include “Lovers and Lollipops” (1956) and “Weddings and Babies” (1958). He was a pioneer of the “direct cinema” style of filmmaking, which emphasized naturalistic storytelling and the use of non-professional actors. Engel’s work has been praised for its realism and its ability to capture the everyday lives of ordinary people.
