Jem Cohen is an American filmmaker and video artist known for his experimental and documentary films. He was born in 1962 in Kabul, Afghanistan, and grew up in Washington, D.C. Cohen studied film at the University of California, Berkeley, and has since directed numerous films, including “Chain” (2004), “Museum Hours” (2012), and “Counting” (2015). He is known for his use of non-linear storytelling and his exploration of urban landscapes and the lives of ordinary people. Cohen has received numerous awards and his work has been exhibited at film festivals and museums around the world.
