Jan Troell is a Swedish film director and screenwriter known for his work in the Swedish film industry. He was born on July 23, 1931, in Limhamn, Sweden. Troell began his career as a documentary filmmaker before transitioning to feature films. He is best known for his films “The Emigrants” (1971) and “The New Land” (1972), which were both nominated for Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. Troell has also directed other notable films such as “Here’s Your Life” (1966) and “Everlasting Moments” (2008). He has won numerous awards throughout his career, including the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Stockholm International Film Festival in 2012.
