    Edward Yang was a Taiwanese film director and screenwriter known for his contributions to the Taiwanese New Wave movement. He was born on November 6, 1947, in Shanghai, China, and passed away on June 29, 2007, in Beverly Hills, California, USA. Yang directed several critically acclaimed films, including “A Brighter Summer Day,” “Yi Yi,” and “The Terrorizers.” He was known for his realistic portrayals of modern Taiwanese life and his exploration of themes such as family, identity, and social change. Yang’s work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival for “Yi Yi” in 2000.
