André De Toth was a Hungarian-American film director and screenwriter. He was born on May 15, 1912, in Mako, Hungary, and died on October 27, 2002, in Burbank, California. De Toth directed over 30 films in his career, including the classic film noir “Pitfall” (1948) and the 3D horror film “House of Wax” (1953). He was known for his skillful use of lighting and camera angles to create tension and suspense in his films. De Toth was also a prolific writer, penning scripts for many of his own films as well as for other directors. He was married to actress Veronica Lake from 1944 to 1952.
