Tariq Trotter, better known by his stage name Black Thought, is an American rapper and actor from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is best known as the lead MC of the hip-hop group The Roots, with whom he has recorded twelve studio albums. He has also released two solo albums and has appeared in several films and television shows. Trotter is also an activist and philanthropist, having founded the non-profit organization Illadelph Foundation.
