Joaquin Phoenix is an American actor, producer, and activist. He has received numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, and two Golden Globe Awards. He began his career as a child actor, appearing in the television series Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1982–1983) and Backwards: The Riddle of Dyslexia (1984). He rose to prominence for his portrayal of Commodus in the 2000 historical drama film Gladiator, for which he earned a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He has since starred in such films as Walk the Line (2005), The Master (2012), Her (2013), and Joker (2019), for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor.
