Glenda Jackson is an English actress and politician. She won two Academy Awards for Best Actress for her roles in Women in Love (1969) and A Touch of Class (1973). She also won two Emmy Awards for her role in the BBC miniseries Elizabeth R (1971). Jackson retired from acting in 1992 to pursue a career in politics, and was elected as a Labour Party Member of Parliament for Hampstead and Highgate in 1992. She served as an MP until 2015, when she retired from politics.
