Barton MacLane (1902-1969) was an American actor, playwright, and screenwriter. He is best known for his roles in films such as The Maltese Falcon (1941), The Big Sleep (1946), and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962). He also appeared in numerous television series, including The Adventures of Superman, The Untouchables, and The Twilight Zone. MacLane was a prolific writer, having written plays, screenplays, and novels. He was also a decorated World War II veteran, having served in the United States Army Air Forces.
