Alec McCowen was an English actor who had a long and distinguished career in theatre, film, and television. He was best known for his roles in the films Frenzy, The Ruling Class, and Staircase, as well as his Tony Award-nominated performance in the Broadway production of Equus. He was also a prolific stage actor, appearing in numerous productions in London’s West End and on Broadway. McCowen was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1987 for his services to drama. He passed away in 2017 at the age of 91.
