Al Freeman Jr. (1934-2012) was an American actor, director, and educator. He was best known for his roles in the films “Malcolm X” and “The Spook Who Sat by the Door,” as well as his role as Police Captain Ed Hall on the television series “One Life to Live.” He was also a professor at Howard University, where he taught acting and directing. He was the first African-American to win a Daytime Emmy Award for his work on “One Life to Live.”
