Critics Consensus

Disturbing and thought-provoking, A Clockwork Orange is a cold, dystopian nightmare with a very dark sense of humor.

Audience Consensus

A Clockwork Orange is a wild ride that will leave you questioning your own morality and humming “Singing in the Rain” for days. Kubrick’s direction and screenplay, paired with stunning visuals and a thought-provoking theme, make for an unforgettable cinematic experience. Sure, it’s a bit problematic and garish at times, but that’s all part of the fun. Just be prepared to reflect on yourself and society in a profound and shocking way. And maybe invest in a raincoat, just in case.

Series Info
When soldier Shaun Emery’s conviction for a murder in Afghanistan is overturned due to flawed video evidence, he returns to life as a free man with his young daughter. But as damning CCTV footage from a night out in London comes to light, Shaun’s life takes a shocking turn and he must soon fight for his freedom once more. Detective Inspector Rachel Carey is drafted to investigate Shaun’s case, but she quickly learns that disentangling misinformation from truth can sometimes be a matter of perspective. In a post-truth era of deepfakes, alternative facts and ubiquitous surveillance, seeing is deceiving; told through the lens of the intelligence community’s extraordinary oversight capability, this conspiracy thriller troubles the timely question of whether we can really believe our eyes.

Bloody Sunday powerfully recreates the events of that day with startling immediacy.

Audience Consensus

Bloody Sunday is a movie that will leave you feeling like you just got punched in the gut, but in a good way. It’s a powerful retelling of the 1972 demonstrations that will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Director Paul Greengrass does an outstanding job of capturing the chaos and confusion of real-life emergencies, and the nerve-jangling, documentary-type immediacy will have you feeling like you’re right in the middle of the action. It’s not a movie for the faint of heart, but if you’re looking for a film that will leave you feeling emotionally drained and intellectually stimulated, then Bloody Sunday is definitely worth checking out.

Critics Consensus

Making excellent use of its period and setting, Peter Bogdanovich’s small town coming-of-age story is a sad but moving classic filled with impressive performances.

Audience Consensus

The Last Picture Show is a movie that will make you feel like you’re back in the 1950s, but with better picture quality. It’s a coming-of-age story that’s both sad and lovely, and it’s got some of the best performances of the New Hollywood era. You’ll feel like you’re right there in the country dance hall, necking in cars, and feeling the ennui of a dying town. And if you’re not careful, you might just shed a tear for what’s lost. But don’t worry, there’s still plenty of vitality throbbing through this movie. It’s an American classic for a reason, y’all.

Critics Consensus

It covers familiar sports documentary territory, but Undefeated proves there are still powerful stories to be told on the high school gridiron.

Audience Consensus

Undefeated is the ultimate underdog story that will have you cheering for the team until the very end. This documentary is a must-watch for anyone who loves sports, but even if you’re not a fan of football, you’ll find yourself invested in the lives of these young players. The film perfectly captures the heart and determination of the team, and you’ll be left feeling inspired and uplifted. Plus, who doesn’t love a good sports movie cliché? It’s not about winning or losing, it’s about how you play the game!

Critics Consensus

Nothing But a Man is a cinematic masterpiece that transcends time and space, transporting the viewer to a world of raw emotion and unbridled humanity. Director Michael Roemer and co-writer Robert Young have crafted a film that is both universal in its themes and deeply personal in its execution. The performances by Ivan Dixon and Abbey Lincoln are nothing short of extraordinary, capturing the essence of their characters with a rare authenticity. The film’s use of popular music from Berry Gordy’s Motown artists adds an extra layer of depth and resonance to an already powerful story. This is a film that should be seen by all, not only for its artistic merit but also for its ability to increase understanding and diminish hatred where it exists. In short, Nothing But a Man is a triumph of cinema that will leave a lasting impression on all who experience it.

Audience Consensus

Nothing But a Man is a movie that will make you feel all the feels. It’s got a great story that anyone can relate to, and the acting is top-notch. Plus, it’s refreshing to see a film that sticks to its point of view and doesn’t try to be everything to everyone. And let’s not forget the Motown soundtrack – it’s the cherry on top of this cinematic sundae. Overall, Nothing But a Man is a must-see for anyone who loves a good drama with heart.

Plot
Born in Birmingham, Duff Anderson, the father of a male toddler, who lives with a nanny, re-locates to a small town to work on the railroad. He meets with and is attracted to Josie much to the chagrin of her preacher father. The marriage does take place nevertheless, both re-locate to live in their own house and he gets a job in a mill. He decides not to bring his son to live with them. Challenges arise when the Mill Foreman finds out that Duff is attempting to unionize the workers, forcing Duff to quit, and look for work elsewhere. Unable to reconcile himself to working on a daily wage of $2.50 picking cotton nor even as a waiter, he gets a job at a garage. He is enraged at a customer for belittling him and Josie, and is let go. Unemployed, unable to support his wife and son, he gets abusive and leaves – perhaps never to return.
