Nope (2022)
RT Audience Score: 68%

Admirable for its originality and ambition even when its reach exceeds its grasp, Nope adds Spielbergian spectacle to Jordan Peele’s growing arsenal.
It may not be the movie you think you’re going to get — or even the one you want — but either way, Nope leaves a strong impression as a true Jordan Peele original.

[Peele] may never again make a film so elegantly structured as Get Out (who has?), but the ferment of interlocking ideas here is so diverting it hardly matters that the film is more at home to a meander than steady ascent.

Despite a strong opening that promises sci-fi thrills, Event Horizon quickly devolves into an exercise of style over substance whose flashy effects and gratuitous gore fail to mask its overreliance on horror clichés
Event Horizon is a wild ride through space that will leave you questioning your sanity. While some critics found it to be a brutal and nonsensical horror film, others praised its impressive special effects and standout performances from Laurence Fishburne and Sam Neill. Personally, I found it to be a thrilling and unique addition to the sci-fi horror genre. Sure, some of the death scenes were a bit much, but isn’t that what we signed up for? Strap in and prepare for a wild ride through the abyss of space.

Dream with the Fishes (1997)
RT Audience Score: 41%
Awards & Nominations: NA
Dream With The Fishes is a film that attempts to capture the essence of the ’70s buddy films, but falls short due to its unnecessary characters and subplots. While possessing a naive charm, the movie fails to break new ground in the quirky-misfits-on-the-road genre. The film’s emphasis on Oedipal conflict and eternal adolescence may appeal to some, but it ultimately fails to deliver a compelling or profound story. Despite its flaws, the movie manages to touch on feelings that most mainstream films don’t even admit exist, making it a personal kind of story told with a certain sensitivity. However, it’s not exactly Oscar-worthy, and nothing here is sufficiently wild to make it stand out from the crowd.
Dream With The Fishes is a movie that’s like a box of chocolates – you never know what you’re going to get. Some critics loved it, some hated it, and some were just plain confused. But hey, isn’t that what life is all about? Taking risks, trying new things, and seeing where the journey takes you. So if you’re in the mood for a quirky, offbeat film that’s equal parts funny and poignant, give Dream With The Fishes a shot. Who knows, you might just catch a big one.

She’s the One (1996)
RT Audience Score: 41%
Awards & Nominations: NA
She’s the One, a film by Ed Burns, has been described as a “comfortable” rather than a “cutting-edge” movie. While it may not be the most innovative film out there, it manages to tackle a range of sensitive issues in a frank and unflinching manner. The characters are portrayed with dignity and integrity, without the need for false dramatic redemption. It’s a true adult saga that explores the complexities of relationships and the human heart. While some critics may find it bland or perfunctory, others see it as a witty examination of Irish machismo and its growing irrelevance in the ’90s. Overall, She’s the One is a pleasant package that’s easy on the eye and gently charming, making it the perfect dating movie for those who are well over puberty and out there on the front lines.
She’s the One” is like a romantic comedy that’s trying to be deep and meaningful, but ends up being just okay. It’s like when you order a fancy latte and it looks pretty, but it’s missing that extra shot of espresso to really make it great. Ed Burns tries to tackle some serious issues, but it doesn’t quite hit the mark. However, if you’re looking for a movie to watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon, it’s not the worst choice. Just don’t expect to be blown away.

Plot
How do siblings deal with each other in their targets? This is the question tackled in this movie. Blue-collared Mickey drives a New York taxicab since the breakup with his promiscuous ex-fiancée Heather two years ago. His younger, white-collared brother, Francis, cannot let Mickey forget the tragedy of the “hairy ass”: (Mickey’s image of his apartment floor of the guy having sex with Heather after walking in on them). Finding relief in driving his cab, Mickey meets an art student named Hope whom he marries after knowing her for only 24 hours. Mickey also meets his old lover Heather, and learns more about life itself as taxi fares in the course of a summer. Francis, a young Wall Street corporate raider, unhappy in his marriage to Renee and led by his infidelity, continues his shots at Mickey throughout the film, only to find himself a plot device that lends humor and lessons about marriage and brotherhood when he meets and starts an dangerous affair with Heather, despite Mickey’s warnings that Heather is a gold-digging nymphomaniac who goes through sexual partners as often as a person changes clothes. Given Mickey’s frame of reference on the past and his bride of 24 hours, it is no wonder that the two brothers, along with their father, an ego-eccentric and emotionally bereft bigot and a hard-core chauvinist who does not allow women aboard his fishing boat, learn about the strength of women, and their own lives.

Romeo Is Bleeding (1993)
RT Audience Score: 62%
Awards & Nominations: 2 nominations
Romeo is Bleeding is a film that attempts to be a neo-noir thriller, but instead comes across as a self-aware parody of the genre. The film’s over-the-top plot and excessive use of cliches make it difficult to take seriously, and the stylishness of the film only serves to distract from its lack of substance. However, Lena Olin’s performance is a standout, and her portrayal of a femme fatale is both captivating and terrifying. Overall, Romeo is Bleeding is a messy and chaotic film that is best enjoyed with a drinking game and a sense of humor.
Romeo is Bleeding is like a rollercoaster ride that starts off slow and then suddenly takes off at breakneck speed. It’s a wild and crazy ride that’s not for the faint of heart. The film is a mishmash of genres, with elements of film noir, action, and camp all thrown in together. Some critics have called it a mess, but I call it a masterpiece of madness. Lena Olin steals the show with her over-the-top performance, and the plot twists and turns will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you’re looking for a fun and crazy ride, then Romeo is Bleeding is the film for you!

Plot
Detective Jack Grimaldi (Gary Oldman) takes us through his shattered life after encountering the most deadly (and deceptive) criminal he has ever had to deal with. It doesn’t help that Grimladi is playing both sides against the middle. When he encounters Demarkov (Lena Olin) he thinks he can play her as he has all the other women in his life…including his wife. But Demarkov knows Jack better than he knows himself. She plays him mercilessly, all the while threatening to kill him when she tires of the game.

She’s Having a Baby (1988)
RT Audience Score: 52%
Awards & Nominations: NA
Kevin Bacon and Elizabeth McGovern struggle to sustain a spark in She’s Having a Baby, a blasé adult romance that lacks the specificity and style of writer-director John Hughes’ more successful forays into teenage angst
She’s Having a Baby is a movie that tries to be relatable to everyone, but ends up being relatable to no one. Despite some clever moments, the film falls flat and leaves its talented cast with little to work with. The fantasy sequences are a bit too silly and detract from the overall story. It’s not a terrible movie, but it’s not a great one either. Maybe skip this one and watch something else about parenthood, like Three Men and a Baby or Look Who’s Talking.

Jake and Kristy Briggs are newlyweds. Being young, they are perhaps a bit unprepared for the full reality of marriage and all that it (and their parents) expect from them. Do they want babies? Their parents certainly want them to. Is married life all that there is? Things certainly aren’t helped by Jake’s friend Davis, who always seems to turn up just in time to put a spanner in the works.

The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)
RT Audience Score: 55%
Awards & Nominations: 2 wins & 1 nomination
A middling Bond film, The Man With the Golden Gun suffers from double entendre-laden dialogue, a noteworthy lack of gadgets, and a villain that overshadows 007
The Man with the Golden Gun” is like a cake with a great frosting but a dry, bland cake underneath. Christopher Lee as the villain is the frosting, making the movie bearable, but Roger Moore’s Bond is like a dry cake that needs some milk to wash it down. It’s not the worst Bond movie, but it’s definitely not the best. And can we talk about Sheriff J.W. Pepper’s return? Let’s just say, it’s not a highlight. Overall, if you’re a die-hard Bond fan, give it a watch, but if you’re looking for a great Bond movie, skip this one and go for the classics.
