While different in tone and structure from the previous film, this one is even more rapturously entertaining than its predecessor. It is also quite a bit funnier.

[An] uproarious if slightly inferior sequel.

Johnson, who once again also penned the script, has no shortage of ammunition for his rat-a-tat takes on pop-culture ephemera and the navel-gazing delusions of wealth and fame.

There’s a good deal of fun in Glass Onion… [But] the movie has a slight case of the diminishing-return blues.

Writer-director Rian Johnson again assembles a solid cast behind Daniel Craig, but it’s his use of language — where nary a word is wasted — that finally gives the sequel its edge.

The joy of Glass Onion is that you can read into it, or just let it flow over you and enjoy the ride.

The film is spectacular to look at, so try to catch this in theaters when you can. And it’s one of those rare treats that is actually more fun to watch a second and third time (which I have done, so you can trust me).

A very well packaged, light-hearted jaunt, peppered with satirical jabs at online culture, influencers and “disrupters” and featuring lovely, cheesy performances from a top ensemble. But as fun as the film is, should you see a Netflix film at the cinema?

“Glass Onion” doesn’t build to a sharp finale, it plays more like a television variety show.

Plot
Detective Benoit Blanc is back and finds himself at a lavish private estate on a Greek island, but how and why he comes to be there is only the first of many puzzles. Blanc soon meets a distinctly disparate group of friends gathering at the invitation of billionaire Miles Bron for their yearly reunion. Among those on the guest list are Miles’ former business partner Andi Brand; current Connecticut governor Claire Debella; cutting-edge scientist Lionel Toussaint; fashion designer and former model Birdie Jay and her conscientious assistant Peg; and influencer Duke Cody and his sidekick girlfriend Whiskey. Each person harbors their own secrets, lies, and motivations. When someone turns up dead, everyone is a suspect. Sequel to the 2019 film, “Knives Out.”
